From John McAfee:
I am called “not serious”, yet I know of no-one who has lived a more serious life. I have run a multi-billion dollar company, having to make decisions based on cash availability and the existence of real competitors while my government lived in a fantasy world and printed money when they had none to spend. I lived in a Third World Banana Republic, was tortured and had to watch my dog shot in front of my eyes by a soldier trained by the FBI at Quantico using an Ar-15 supplied by the US Government. I hid in the jungles of Central America for weeks while being chased by an army representing a government that I had refused to be extorted by. Please…. tell me what is not serious about this.
The Job of the President
It is not the job of the President to resolve our differences or adjudicate our grievances. That is the unenviable job of Congress. The President’s job is to find a common ground upon which all Americans, excluding none, can stand. I am told that this is impossible, yet I can give you one clear example: we are all human, and share the commonalities of fear, love, anger, jealousy, hope and compassion. If we start there, we can begin a conversation, myself and the American public, and perhaps grow that commonality into a substantive base.
I am running the first purely electronic Presidential campaign. I will hold “Fireside Chats”, over the Internet, through which you and I can communicate, as if I were sitting in your living room. I will not be coming to your city to shake your hand or kiss your babies, and for that I apologize, both to you and to your babies. But I will make myself available in a way that no presidential candidate has yet done if there is even one American that, at the end of my campaign, I do not represent, then I have failed and do not deserve to be your president.

On Debates & the Role of Politics
If my campaign advisors and campaign manager agree that it is in the interests of our party that I should enter the Presidential debates then I will happily do so. However, I feel moved to express my personal views on the matter: I believe that there is nothing I can possibly say to Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump or any other of my contenders that will convince them to vote for me. I apologize to them in advance if, after I am elected, any of them feel that I truly do not represent them. Rather, I am hoping that the American public will debate me through the electronic medium that my party is now working non-stop to implement. It is the hearts and minds of the American public that interest me, and it is they that I must represent. As someone who has seen much of the world in my 70 years, I can strongly recommend that those of you who find value or entertainment through watching political opponents spar, that an equal amount of time watching the History channel or Professional Wrestling will bring greater value and greater entertainment.
